Conflict heritage in America.
Could you Please tell or write the conditions which were led to acceptance of conflict theory in America?
Following developments in politics and the transfer of power from Europe to the United States, science called for a new environment to grow and develop. The post-World War II conditions in the United States were the most favorable environment. As explained previously, the functionalism school which was proportional to the needs of those conditions developed and grew first. The link between the functionalism school and politics is such that it is said: “the early American sociological theory helped to rationally justify exploitation, domestic and international imperialism, and social inequality. (Ritzer, 1386: 62)
Of the criticism of the functionalist school, studied previously, it was concluded that the structural functionalism view overlooks certain issues in society. Such as group competition, racial discrimination and even the negative effects of industrialization. Therefore the American sociologists needed a different theoretical perspective to fill the mental void.
In such intellectual conditions, the only easy accessible rival was the conflict theory
